OVERVIEW

The Basics

Blackjack is a popular and exciting Casino card game. The goal is simple: beat the dealer when your hand value is closer to 21 without exceeding it, or when the dealer’s hand exceeds 21. Once you fully understand the basics, there are Blackjack strategies you can try to better your chances of leaving the online Blackjack table a winner!

BET TYPES

In Blackjack, you can make different bets

Standard Bet
You bet on your own hand against the dealer.

Insurance Bet
You can place an insurance bet if the dealer's face-up card is an Ace to protect against the possibility of the dealer having a blackjack. Your insurance bet wins if the dealer does have blackjack, and it pays 2:1.

Split
If you are dealt two cards of the same value, you can double your initial bet to split them into two separate hands.

Double Down
You can double your initial bet after receiving your first two cards, but you'll only get one more card.

RULES OF BLACKJACK

The goal is to have a hand value closer to 21 than the dealer without going over. If your hand exceeds 21, you bust and lose the round. After receiving your initial two cards, you can choose to "hit" (take another card) or "stand" (keep your current hand).

The dealer follows specific rules; usually, they must hit until they have a total of 17 or higher. Some games require the dealer to hit soft 17, which is a 17 made with an Ace and a 6.

A Blackjack is when your initial two cards total 21 (an Ace and a 10-value card), and you instantly win unless the dealer also has a blackjack.

Card Values

Number cards (2-10)
Face value.

Face cards (Jack, Queen, King)
Worth 10 each.

Ace
Can be worth 1 or 11 points, depending on what benefits the hand the most.

GAMEPLAY

Place Your Bet
Before the cards are dealt, place your wager.

Cards Are Dealt
You and the dealer each get two cards. One of the dealer's cards is face-up, allowing you to make strategic decisions.

First, it’s your turn. You can choose to

Hit
Take another card to improve your hand.

Stand
Keep your current hand.

Double Down
Double your initial bet and receive one more card.

Split
If you have two cards of the same value, double your initial bet to split them into two separate hands.

If you hit and exceed 21, you bust, which means your hand loses. If you don’t bust, the dealer will reveal their face-down card and follow the rules outlined above. If the dealer busts, your hand wins. If neither you or the dealer bust, the hand that’s closer to 21 wins. If you and the dealer tie, it's a push and you’ll get your bet back.
