Tony Adams
S / New York Jets
Adams seems to be recovered from a head injury sustained last season, Zack Rosenblatt of The Athletic reports.
What it means:
Adams initially injured his head during the team's Week 18 loss to Miami but is now healthy again. The 24-year-old will compete for the backup spot behind Jordan Whitehead throughout the remainder of the summer.
Breece Hall
RB / New York Jets
Jets' Robert Saleh 'very optimistic' about Week 1 return for Breece Hall (ACL)
What it means:
New York Jets head coach Robert Saleh said he is feeling "very optimistic" about having running back Breece Hall (ACL) ready for Week 1 of the NFL season.
Hall suffered an ACL tear just halfway through his rookie season, which prematurely ended what was on pace to be an Offensive Rookie of the Year-winning campaign until that point. The explosive former second-round pick has already been participating in a limited fashion during the team's OTAs and should be a full go for Week 1 barring any unforeseen setbacks.
Hall rushed for an absurd 5.8 yards per carry in his shortened season, totaling 80 rushes for 463 yards and 4 scores. He added another 19 receptions for 218 yards and 1 touchdown as well, and led all running backs in averaged depth of target (4.7) in his rookie season. He's likely to go near the top of fantasy drafts in 2023.
Duane Brown
T / New York Jets
Brown (shoulder) said Wednesday at OTAs that he's not sure if he'll be ready for the start of training camp, Rich Cimini of ESPN.com reports.
What it means:
Brown missed the first four games of 2022 due to a shoulder injury but played through the pain the rest of the season before sitting out Week 18. The 2008 first-round pick underwent an offseason procedure to address the issue and was contemplating retirement, but he has decided to return for another campaign because he thinks the new-look Jets can win a championship. When healthy, Brown figures to handle his usual role as the starting left tackle.
Breece Hall
RB / New York Jets
Coach Robert Saleh said Wednesday he's "very optimistic" about the chances of Hall (knee) being on the field Week 1, Brian Costello of the New York Post reports.
What it means:
Saleh affirmed that Hall's rehab from a left ACL tear is continuing on track, per Eric Allen of the Jets' official site, saying that the running looks powerful and has already hit over 22 miles per hour via GPS monitor. Though Zack Rosenblatt of The Athletic reports Hall isn't expected to be ready for the start of training camp, the 2022 second-round pick could still be available to kick off the regular season as long as he can avoid any setbacks. Of course, Hall might be eased into action even if he does avoid missing any games. In that case, Michael Carter, Zonovan Knight and Israel Abanikanda could all see increased opportunities.
Aaron Rodgers
QB / New York Jets
Coach Robert Saleh said Rodgers (calf) will be limited at Wednesday's OTAs session and the hope is for him to practice fully Friday, Andy Vasquez of The Bergen Record reports.
What it means:
Saleh said Rodgers, who suffered a strained calf last week, is "fine" per Rich Cimini of ESPN.com. The Jets don't appear worried about the status of the veteran quarterback, which reinforces the belief that he's simply dealing with a minor injury. Saleh said Rodgers will "for sure" be back in full next week, according to Cimini.
Yodny Cajuste
T / New York Jets
The Jets signed Cajuste on Tuesday, Brian Costello of the New York Post reports.
What it means:
Cajuste was cut by the Patriots in mid-May and has latched on with New England's division rival. The 2019 third-round pick played in 10 games last year with three starts at right tackle, but he's made just 17 appearances across his first four NFL campaigns.
