Saquon Barkley

Saquon Barkley (ankle) officially limited Thursday for Giants
What it means:
New York Giants running back Saquon Barkley (ankle) is listed as a limited participant on the Thursday practice report for Week 4 against the Seattle Seahawks on Monday night.
Barkley has a chance to play after sitting out last Thursday versus the San Francisco 49ers with an ankle injury he suffered in Week 2. Matt Breida and Gary Brightwell will likely split backfield work again on Monday night if Barkley remains unavailable. Breida out-snapped Brightwell 41-9 last week, but they had the same amount of carries (4) and targets (3).
The Seahawks’ run defense ranks 12th in numberFire’s opponent-adjusted NEP model, but their pass defense is 26th, so the Giants may try to focus more on their aerial "attack" on Monday night. Breida is the RB35 and Brightwell is the RB38 in our Week 4 rankings.

Saquon Barkley (ankle) working individually at Giants practice
What it means:
New York Giants running back Saquon Barkley (ankle) will participate in individual drills on Thursday, per head coach Brian Daboll.
Daboll said the Giants will see how Barkley looks and take it from there. The all-everything back has been sidelined since injuring his ankle in Week 2, but it sounds like he may have an outside chance of playing against the Seattle Seahawks on Monday night. Matt Breida and Gary Brightwell will likely split backfield work again in Week 4 if Barkley remains unavailable. Breida out-snapped Brightwell 41-9 last week without Barkley, but they had the same amount of carries (4) and targets (3).

Saquon Barkley (ankle) now day-to-day for Giants
What it means:
New York Giants running back Saquon Barkley (ankle) is day-to-day, per comments from head coach Brian Daboll on Tuesday afternoon.
Daboll said Barkley is "getting better" after sitting out last Thursday's loss to the San Francisco 49ers with a right ankle sprain. Barkley was initially expected to miss multiple games, but the Giants are playing on Monday night in Week 4 against the Seattle Seahawks, so the additional day and a half could allow him to return early. Daboll also might just be engaging in meaningless coach speak. Matt Breida and Gary Brightwell will likely split backfield work again in Week 4 if Barkley remains unavailable.

Giants' Saquon Barkley dealing with high ankle sprain
What it means:
New York Giants running back Saquon Barkley confirmed to Taylor Rooks via NFL on Prime that he is recovering from a high ankle sprain.
Barkley has already been ruled out for tonight's game against the San Francisco 49ers, but told Rooks he is optimistic about his chances to return in Week 4 after the long week of rest. We've seen high ankle sprains severely limit otherwise outstanding NFL players in the past -- including Barkley himself -- so this will absolutely be a situation worth monitoring. The star running back was notably not placed on the injured reserve, which would have required him to sit out for the next four games. It's a small comfort, but it does imply that the team expects him to return sooner rather than later.
Barkley will try his best to return to the field as soon as possible, but in the meantime teammate Matt Breida will be expected to carry the load for the Giants. Our models project Breida for 7 fantasy points against the San Francisco 49ers in Week 3.
Wan'Dale Robinson
WR / New York Giants
Giants' Wan'Dale Robinson (knee) active for Week 3
What it means:
New York Giants wide receiver Wan'Dale Robinson (knee) is active for Week 3's game against the San Francisco 49ers on Thursday Night Football.
Robinson is officially active and will make his season debut against the 49ers on Thursday. Robinson missed the second half of his rookie season and the first two weeks of this season due to an ACL tear.
numberFire's models project Robinson for 3.1 FanDuel points on Thursday. His salary is $4,500.
Matt Breida
RB / New York Giants
Matt Breida set to start Thursday for Giants
What it means:
New York Giants running back Matt Breida is expected to start against the San Francisco 49ers on Thursday night in Week 3, per Jeremy Fowler of ESPN.
Breida is set to lead the backfield with Saquon Barkley (ankle) unavailable, but the Giants are also expected to use Gary Brightwell and Eric Gray. Daniel Jones could see an uptick in designed runs as well. Breida has a tough matchup in what will likely be a negative game script on the road, but he could benefit from checkdowns and garbage time.
Breida is the RB38 in numberFire's Week 3 rankings. He has an $11,000 salary on Thursday's single-game slate and our models project him for 7.0 FanDuel points, with 10.0 carries, 44.8 rushing yards, 1.2 receptions, 8.2 receiving yards, and 0.25 touchdowns. Brightwell ($7,500) is projected for 7.5 touches and 4.8 FanDuel points. The 49ers’ pass defense and overall defense both rank in the top-five based on numberFire’s opponent-adjusted NEP model, but their run defense is third-worst, so the Giants may be able to find some surprise success on the ground if they can maintain a neutral game script.
