Indianapolis Colts 2022-23 Fantasy Outlook

The Indianapolis Colts just missed last year’s postseason, but the club was certainly no slouch at 9-8 overall. To revitalize the Indianapolis offense, the team swapped the incumbent Carson Wentz for veteran signal-caller Matt Ryan, who finally departed from Atlanta after 14 impressive seasons with the Falcons. At 37 years of age, Ryan’s best days may be behind him, but fortunately, he’ll have arguably the best running back in the league by his side. Jonathan Taylor devastated opposing defenses all season long in 2021-22, running for an absurd 1811 yards en route to the top spot in his positional DFS rankings. No other NFL rusher came within 50 Fantasy points of Taylor’s season total.

Taylor will need to continue to dominate this season, because Indianapolis’s receiving corps is still thin. Michael Pittman had a breakout season that saw him finish 16th in Fantasy points among all receivers in 2021-22, but Ryan won’t have many other reliable options. Returners like RB Nyheim Hines, TE Mo Alie-Cox, and receiver Parris Campbell will have to step up to challenge opposing secondaries alongside Pittman. Head coach Frank Reich, who’s now entering his 5th season, will surely look to Ryan to introduce some stability to an offense that has displayed more than its fair share of inconsistency in recent years.

Indianapolis Colts Fantasy Defense

Not only did the Colts total the 7th-most Fantasy points of any defensive unit last year, but they brought in some bona fide power players over the offseason. First, general manager Chris Ballard made a big splash by acquiring star pass rusher Yannick Ngakoue from Las Vegas. Then, as if that wouldn’t have been enough, he signed former Defensive Player of the Year Stephon Gilmore to a 2-year deal. Now, a menacing secondary that collected 19 interceptions last season will trot out one of the best DBs to ever play the game.
