Travis Homer Status

rotoWire
Homer (ankle) has agreed to terms on a two-year deal worth a maximum of $4.5 million with the Bears, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports.

What it means:

The Bears are looking to add running back depth behind Khalil Herbert after losing David Montgomery to the Lions in free agency. Homer spent his first four seasons with the Seahawks and contributed as depth in the backfield and as a core special teamer. He accumulated 114 rushing yards on 18 carries to go along with 56 receiving yards on 11 receptions actross 16 games in Seattle last season.
rotoWire
Homer (ankle) was placed on injured reserve Saturday, Curtis Crabtree of Fox 13 Seattle reports.

What it means:

Homer wasn't expected to play Week 18, but this move now means that the 24-year-old wouldn't be able to return unless the Seahawks make it to the Super Bowl. Expect Kenneth Walker and DeeJay Dallas to carry the load in a Week 18 matchup against the Rams.
rotoWire
Homer (ankle) is listed as doubtful for Sunday's game against the Rams, Gregg Bell of The Tacoma News Tribune reports.

What it means:

Barring some dramatic improvement in his recovery from the ankle sprain leading up to the 4:25 p.m. ET kickoff, Homer will sit out a critical regular-season finale for the Seahawks, who can punch their ticket to the postseason with a win plus a Green Bay loss to Detroit later Sunday. Assuming Homer ends up being inactive for Week 18, the Seahawks will likely turn to DeeJay Dallas to serve as the top change-of-pace option behind lead back Kenneth Walker.
rotoWire
Homer (ankle) was a non-participant at Thursday's practice, John Boyle of the Seahawks' official site reports.

What it means:

Homer is seeking to end his DNP streak at one game, but a sprained ankle hasn't allowed him to practice since Week 16 prep. Fellow running backs Kenneth Walker (ankle/illness) and DeeJay Dallas (ankle) also didn't practice Wednesday and Thursday, so the state of the position group remains up in the air in the midst of Week 18 prep. If Walker is able to play Sunday against the Rams, he likely would be the Seahawks' primary backfield option, which would leave some snaps and touches for whoever among Homer and Dallas are available. In the end, Homer's status could receive some clarity, one way or another, upon the release of Friday's injury report.
rotoWire
Homer (ankle) didn't participate in practice Wednesday, Bob Condotta of The Seattle Times reports.

What it means:

Homer sprained his ankle Week 16 at Kansas City, which kept him out of on-field work last week and eventually resulted in inactive status this past Sunday versus the Jets. With no practice reps evident since suffering the injury, he doesn't appear to be in a great spot to play Week 18 against the Rams. Still, because coach Pete Carroll told John Boyle of the Seahawks' official site on Monday that Homer may be able to return for Sunday's game, the running back's status will be one to watch as the week goes on. Notably, position mates Kenneth Walker (ankle/illness) and DeeJay Dallas (ankle) also were DNPs on Wednesday, so the team's backfield again is in flux.
rotoWire
Head coach Pete Carroll said Monday that Travis Homer (ankle) could return Week 18 against the Rams, John Boyle of the Seahawks' official site reports.

What it means:

Homer suffered the injury Week 16 against the Chiefs, and he was unable to suit up in Sunday's win over the Jets. His ability to return would certainly be a boost to the Seahawks' depth at running back in Sunday's pivotal game against the Rams, which they need to win to have a chance to earn a playoff spot.
