Robbie Anderson Status

rotoWire
The Cardinals released Anderson on Wednesday.

What it means:

This move was expected after Anderson did very little in his time with the Cardinals last season, catching just seven passes for 76 yards and no touchdowns in 10 games following his acquisition from the Panthers. Anderson's release clears $12 million in cap space for Arizona.
rotoWire
NFL Network's Ian Rapoport reports the Cardinals are expected to release Anderson.

What it means:

This is a no-brainer mover for new Cardinals GM Monti Ossenfort. Acquired from the Panthers in Week 7 last season, Anderson ended up catching seven passes for 76 scoreless yards across 10 games for Arizona. Releasing Anderson will save the Cardinals $12 million in cap space.

Robbie Anderson (back) ruled out for Cardinals' finale

What it means:

Arizona Cardinals wide receiver Robbie Anderson (back) is out for Week 18 against the San Francisco 49ers. Anderson will be absent for the final game of the season after he injured his back in last week's game against the Atlanta Falcons. DeAndre Hopkins (knee) has also been ruled out, so Marquise Brown, Greg Dortch, and Trey McBride will be the Cardinals' top pass-catchers on Sunday. However, they will be trying to catch passes from David Blough. Anderson caught 7 passes on 17 targets for 76 scoreless yards in 10 games for the Cardinals this season after being acquired from the Carolina Panthers. He's expected to be a free agent this offseason and turns 30 in May.
rotoWire
Anderson (back) has been ruled out for Sunday's game against the 49ers, Tyler Drake of ArizonaSports.com reports.

What it means:

The 29-year-old wideout played 10 games for Arizona after an October trade, catching seven of 17 targets for 76 yards while mostly serving as the team's fourth or fifth wide receiver. Anderson will need to accept a pay cut to have any shot at sticking with the team, as his current contract calls for a non-guaranteed $8.8 million base salary and $3 million roster bonus in 2023, the final year of the deal. He'll be a free agent if/when the Cardinals release him.
rotoWire
Anderson (back) wasn't spotted on the field during Thursday's practice, Josh Weinfuss of ESPN.com reports.

What it means:

With consecutive absences from practice to begin Week 18 prep, Anderson doesn't appear to be in a good spot as Sunday's game in San Francisco approaches. Unless Anderson can fit in some on-field activity Friday, he could be ruled out upon the release of the Cardinals' final Week 18 injury report. If Anderson is sidelined for the season finale, a few extra snaps could be opened up for A.J. Green and/or Andre Baccellia.
rotoWire
Anderson (back) didn't take part in Wednesday's walkthrough, Darren Urban of the Cardinals' official site reports.

What it means:

With DeAndre Hopkins (knee) out for Week 18 and Rondale Moore (groin) and Antoine Wesley (groin) on injured reserve, the Cardinals wide receivers that are available Sunday at San Francisco may be busy. Having said that, Anderson isn't able to practice to begin the week due to the back injury that forced an early exit from this past Sunday's defeat in Atlanta. In the end, he has two more sessions to turn the tide as it pertains to his availability this coming weekend.
