Riley Patterson Status
rotoWire
Patterson signed his tender with the Jaguars on Thursday, Demetrius Harvey of the Florida Times-Union reports.
What it means:
Patterson was an exclusive rights free agent and will now be tied to the Jaguars for the 2023 campaign. In his first year with the team last season the 23-year-old made 28 of his 33 field-goal attempts and 41 of his 43 extra-point tries. Patterson looks to be in line to start again next season as the only other kicker currently on the roster is James McCourt who's never kicked in an NFL game before.
rotoWire
Patterson went 30-for-35 on field-goal attempts and 36-for-37 on PATs during the 2022 regular season.
What it means:
The 23-year-old was also perfect across the Jaguars' two playoff games, making three field goals and four extra points. Patterson debuted with seven appearances for Detroit in 2021, and he was solid as Jacksonville's kicker this season, going 18-for-19 on kicks inside 40 yards. James McCourt inked a reserve/future contract to provide some competition, but Patterson is an exclusive rights free agent in 2023, and there's a decent chance the team wants him back.
rotoWire
Patterson made a 36-yard field goal as time expired to give the Jaguars a 31-30 win over the Chargers in the wild-card round. He also made both of his extra-point tries.
What it means:
Patterson did all that was required of him, helping Jacksonville seal an improbable comeback victory. He'll now turn his focus to Saturday's game versus the Chiefs in the AFC divisional round.
rotoWire
Patterson isn't listed on the Jaguars' injury report Wednesday.
What it means:
Patterson isn't listed on the injury report Wednesday after missing Tuesday's practice with a knee issue. It was reported earlier by Demetrius Harvey of The Florida Times-Union that Patterson practiced Wednesday, but the kicker's omission from the injury report suggests he shouldn't have any issues suiting up for Saturday's wild-card matchup against the Chargers.
rotoWire
Patterson (knee) practiced Wednesday, Demetrius Harvey of The Florida Times-Union reports.
What it means:
Patterson didn't practice Tuesday, but his return Wednesday should be good for his prospects of playing Saturday against the Chargers. It's unclear when he picked up the injury, or the severity of it, but he is currently considered questionable for the contest. In a worst case scenario, the Jaguars do have James McCourt on their practice squad, if Patterson can't play in the wild-card round.
rotoWire
Patterson didn't practice Tuesday due to a knee injury.
What it means:
Patterson converted both of his extra-point tries in addition to field-goal attempts of 26 and 36 yards in last weekend's AFC South-clinching win over the Titans, but the kicker might have picked up the knee injury at some point along the way. His absence from practice to begin the week suddenly puts his status in question for Saturday's wild-card game against the Chargers. If Patterson can't go, the Jaguars could elevate James McCourt from the practice squad to handle kicking duties in what would be his NFL debut.
