Murray rushed 15 times for 103 yards and a touchdown and brought in his only target for 15 yards in the Broncos' 31-28 win over the Chargers on Sunday. He also committed a fumble recovered by Denver.
What it means:
The veteran running back closed out the season with another strong effort, one that saw him post a pair of 100-yard efforts in the last four games. Murray was an afterthought languishing on the Saints' practice squad earlier in the season, but a solid 11-carry, 57-yard, one-touchdown effort in Week 4 for New Orleans caught the eye of the Broncos, with which he thrived to the tune of 703 rushing yards and five touchdowns along with a 26-124 line through the air across 12 games. Murray will be an unrestricted free agent at the start of the new league year and 33 years old by the time next season kicks off, yet his body of work this past season suggests he still has plenty of tread left on his tires.
Murray carried the ball 12 times for 56 yards and caught four of six targets for 16 yards in Sunday's 27-24 loss to the Chiefs.
What it means:
Murray paced the Broncos' running backs in carries, handling the majority of work on the ground. Meanwhile, Chase Edmonds handled seven carries of his own for 34 yards while catching all three of his targets for 39 yards. Though Edmonds finished with more receiving yards, the fact that Murray was more involved in the passing game is certainly a boost to his fantasy value in Denver. Assuming he can continue to get most of the touches out of the backfield, the veteran will look to have more of an impact in Week 18 when the Broncos host the Chargers.
Murray rushed eight times for 34 yards and had one reception (three targets) for six yards in Sunday's 51-14 loss to the Rams.
What it means:
Murray led a committee of veteran backs in carries and rushing yards despite the paltry final line. The Broncos fell behind big early and had to abandon the run, which is not a formula conducive for success for a plodding power back. The return of Chase Edmonds (6/31/0) and the presence of Marlon Mack (4/22/0) hurts the veteran starter's value moving forward. Murray is still the preferred option in Denver's backfield, but his upside is limited heading into a matchup against Kansas City on Sunday.
Latavius Murray (foot) active for Broncos in Week 16
What it means:
Denver Broncos running back Latavius Murray (foot) is active for the team's Week 16 game against the Los Angeles Rams.
Murray sat out of practices during the week with a foot injury, but the team was fairly straightforward in saying that the veteran back was just getting rest after his recent 25-touch game. He'll be leaned on heavily again as the Broncos' primary ball carrier.
Our models project Murray, who has a $7,200 salary on FanDuel, to score 13 fantasy points against the Rams, with 73 rushing yards, 13.3 receiving yards, and 0.6 touchdowns.
Murray (foot) is listed as active for Sunday's game against the Rams.
What it means:
After sitting out Thursday's practice, Murray returned to a limited session Friday and he'll give it a go Sunday. Assuming no in-game setbacks, he should continue pace Denver's rushing attack after having carried 24 times for 130 yards and a TD and catching one pass for 12 yards in the team's Week 15 win over the Cardinals. Also in the Broncos' Week 16 backfield mix are Marlon Mack and Chase Edmonds, who was activated off IR on Saturday, but Murray's strong effort versus Arizona should earn him enough touches versus Los Angeles to maintain fantasy utility.
Murray (foot), who is listed as questionable for Sunday's game against the Rams, indicated after returning to a limited practice Friday that he's ready to play in the contest, Parker Gabriel of the Denver Post reports.
What it means:
It's still worth verifying Murray's status ahead of Sunday's 4:30 p.m. ET kickoff, but if the running back is able to play this weekend, he'd be in line to continue pace Denver's backfield on the heels of carrying 24 times for 130 yards and a touchdown and catching one pass for 12 yards in his team's Week 15 win over the Cardinals. Also in the Broncos' backfield mix versus Los Angeles will be Marlon Mack and quite possibly Chase Edmonds (ankle), who is a candidate to come off IR.
