The offseason addition of tight end Gerald Everett has benefited the Seattle Seahawks with a third receiving option behind D.K. Metcalf and Tyler Lockett. Unfortunately for Seattle, the clubs got a bit of bad news around their new tight end as he was placed on the Reserve/COVID-19 list on Tuesday.

It's currently unclear why the Seahawks placed Everett on the COVID-19 list, but usually means one of two options: close contact or a positive test result.

The situation is even murkier because no details exist around Everett's vaccination status. If he's vaccinated, there's an outside chance he can return for Seattle's Week 4 matchup against the San Francisco 49ers. This would require two negative tests at least 24 hours apart.

On the other hand, if Everett is not vaccinated, he'll be out for at least the next 10 days or until his symptoms subside. Will Dissly and Tyler Mabry slot in behind Everett on Seattle's tight end depth chart.

On the year, Everett ranks third on the team in targets (9) and receptions (8). He's turned those 8 receptions into 77 receiving yards and 1 touchdown as the Seahawks look to bounce back from two straight losses.

Entering Week 4, the Seahawks are currently 3-point road underdogs at the 49ers, according to NFL odds on FanDuel Sportsbook.
