Jets News: Rookie Elijah Moore Impressing at Minicamp
It's not a surprise to hear that experts and fans may have high expectations for New York Jets rookie wide receiver Elijah Moore next season. After all, he didn't get selected 34th overall at the 2021 NFL Draft for no reason. Nevertheless, some players crack under pressure while others thrive. When it comes to his performance at the Jets minicamp this offseason, the 21-year-old wideout is falling into the latter category.
According to NBC Sports, Moore has been "turning heads" at the team's minicamp as of late. Jets head coach Robert Saleh said that the rookie wideout's work ethic and mindset are both "off the charts." That kind of praise should get Jets fans pumped up about the next season.
Elijah Moore News
Whenever a rookie performs well, be it at training camp or in an actual game, it can catch some people off guard if they have low expectations. That's not the case for Moore, who is confident in his abilities to excel at the NFL level.
"At the end of the day, I know that obviously it’s going to be played at a higher level here, but you’ve got to adjust. You know, I’m here for a reason."- Elijah Moore, Jets WR
Moore had his best college football season with the Ole Miss Rebels in 2020. While he only played in eight games, he made 86 receptions for 1,193 yards and 8 touchdowns. There's no guarantee that he'll replicate those stats in his rookie season, but it's that perfect mixture between skill and confidence that will help him get close if given the opportunity.
Regardless of how Moore performs next season, FanDuel Sportsbook is favoring the Jets to miss the 2021 postseason at -700 odds. Meanwhile, Moore's +5000 odds to win the Offensive Rookie of the Year Award put him in a tie for 15th-place.
