- Enter your lineup into contests to compete against others with the same number of picks.
- Win prizes: Split the cash prize with other winners, or win guaranteed prizes if you get Perfect Picks like 6/6.

Building Your Lineup
How to Make a Lineup
Step-by-step process
- Navigate to FanDuel Picks
- Select your sport
- Select your state
- Build your lineup by choosing players and selecting whether you believe they will score "more" or "less" than their stat projection
Pick Eligibility
Your lineup must be made from picks within the same sport and slate. This ensures that your opponents build their lineups from the same collection of available selections.
Minimum play requirements
Minimum play requirements by league:
• NFL: The player must record at least one (1) snap (offense, defense or special teams) to be considered as having met the minimum play requirements
• NBA: The player must log at least one (1) second of playing time to be considered as having met the minimum play requirements
• NHL: The player must record at least one (1) second of official ice time to be considered as having met the minimum play requirements
• MLB: For pitcher markets (Strikeouts Thrown), the listed pitcher must start the game, and the opposing pitcher’s status has no bearing on minimum play. For batter markets (hits, home runs, RBIs, runs scored, total bases, hits + runs + RBIs, singles, doubles, triples, strikeouts), the player must be in the starting lineup AND record at least one plate appearance.
Note: If a player reaches the minimum play requirements and then exits the game for any reason (injury, ejection, etc.) they will still be eligible to have their picks scored.
Two-way players (e.g., Shohei Ohtani) can be scored from both pitching stats (strikeouts, innings) and hitting stats (hits, home runs, RBIs) depending on their role that day—on pitching days Ohtani may throw 6 innings with 8 Ks AND hit a home run as DH
What happens when picks do not play
When a pick becomes “DNP” (did not play)
If a pick you selected doesn't meet the minimum play requirements (outlined below), it will be marked as "DNP" and will score 0 points.
Staying in your contest
If you entered a 4+ pick lineup and one or more of your picks is marked as "DNP" (did not play), you will remain in the same contest and your lineup will be ranked alongside others in your original contest size.
Perfect Picks with “DNP” (did not play) picks
If a player in your lineup is “DNP” and the rest of your selections are perfect, you will receive the guaranteed multiplier based on the smaller, valid lineup. This multiplier is calculated according to the remaining players, the new lineup size, and the stats you selected.
When you get a refund
Your lineup is a voided entry and you will receive a refund if:
- A player doesn't play AND your remaining picks are all from the same team
- You have fewer than 3 remaining valid picks
Frequently asked questions
Can available selections or player targets change once they are posted?
Yes, player targets can change after they have been posted. The targets at the time you submit your lineup are the targets your picks will be scored against.
Can I select a player more than once in the same lineup?
Yes, you can select a player multiple times in the same lineup, but must make picks from players of at least two (2) different teams.
What happens if a player I select doesn't play?
If a pick you selected doesn't play, they will not meet the minimum play requirements and that selection will be marked as "DNP" (did not play) and will score 0 points. You will still be eligible for the adjusted guaranteed multiplier based on the smaller, valid lineup.
However, if “DNP” players cause your lineup to be invalid (fewer than 3 picks or all remaining players from the same team), your lineup will be considered invalid and your entry fee will be refunded.
Basic lineup rules
All FanDuel Picks lineups must contain players from at least two different teams. You can select a player multiple times in the same lineup, as long as you have players from at least two teams.
Depending on the sport and stat you select, you may be able to choose either "more" or "less," or sometimes only one option will be available.

Customizing Your Picks
Alternative Player Targets
You can select a player's stat and adjust it to what you want, giving you more control over your picks and payout potential.
How to adjust your target:
- Tap the arrows icon next to a player’s stat
- Scroll left to see lower targets or right to see higher targets
- Tap the blue checkmark on the right to change your target
Note: You can't select multiple alternative targets for the same stat category. For example, you can't pick "more" for 89.5 rushing yards and "more" for 99.5 rushing yards for the same player.
Spicy and Mild Picks
Decide how spicy you want to get! Your payout potential will vary depending on the level of difficulty you take on with your picks.
- Spicy Picks
: Higher payout potential but could be tougher to score.
- Mild Picks
: Lower payout potential, but they're also less risky
Note: Some Mild Picks can't be combined. If you get an error, you can swap some with regular or Spicy Picks.
Promotional Picks (dropdown)
What’s a Stat Slash?
For a Stat Slash Pick, the statistical projection line is reduced from its original value.
When selecting a Stat Slash Pick, you will see two values displayed:
- The original statistical projection
- The slashed promotional projection value
The original statistical projection will appear white and crossed out. The slashed promotional projection value will appear in bolded yellow.
Note:After you add promotion picks to your lineup, you’ll see a max entry fee limit.
Example:
If a player’s original point projection is 26.5, that value will appear grey and crossed out. The slashed promotional projection value (for example, 18.5 points) will appear in yellow and is the value that applies to the Stat Slash Pick.
What’s a Gimme Pick?
For a Gimme Pick, the statistical projection line is reduced to 0.5.
When selecting a Gimme Pick, you will see two values displayed:
- The standard statistical projection
- The promotional projection value
Example:
If a player’s standard point projection is 28.5, that value will appear white and crossed out. The promotional projection value of 0.5 points will appear in yellow and is the value that applies to the Gimme Pick.
The promotional projection value will not change at any point.

Entering Contests
How to submit lineup
Entry requirements
Once you've built your lineup, you will enter the total amount of entry fees you'd like to play for.
Note:Entry fee amounts must be in whole dollar amounts.
Once you're ready to submit your entry, continue to the finalize screen to review your contest distribution and potential multiplier values before completing your submission.
Contest distribution
How entry distribution works
Each $1 you enter puts your lineup into a contest (ex: $15 = 15 entries). Each $1 of your entry fees represents a single entry into a contest and each entry is competing for a share of the contest's total prizes. You compete against others with the same number of picks.
Unlike other FanDuel Daily Fantasy Sports contests, participants do not need to enter individual contests through the contest Lobby. Instead, your entry fees will be automatically divided into $1 entries, which are then distributed across eligible contests, subject to your confirmation.
Why are my FanDuel Picks entries distributed?
Unlike other Daily Fantasy Sports contests offered by FanDuel – which can vary by style, entry fee, rules, scoring and other attributes – FanDuel Picks contests are structured so that participants do not need to select individual contests from a Lobby. Instead, participants can focus solely on building their lineups.
To ensure a consistent entry experience, all participants' entries are distributed in the same way across eligible contests.
How are my pick entries distributed?
Your entries will be distributed across eligible contests in the following order:
- The earliest created unfilled contest will be filled with as many of your entries as possible until you hit your maximum entry limit per contest or the contest reaches capacity
- Any remaining entries will be placed in the next available unfilled contest such that you are within contest entry limits
- This process continues until all your entries are placed or there are no more eligible contests
All contests have limits on the maximum number of entries that a single user may submit. These limits are as follows:
- 3% of the total entries for contests with 2 to 4999 entries
- 150 entries for contests with 5000 or more entries
Entry guidelines:
- Player pool locks:1 minute before slate starts
- Cancel your entry:Up to 1 minute before first game
How are prizes determined?
Scoring system
FanDuel Picks contest entries are scored based on the number of correct selections made by participants.
Two ways prizes are determined:
Guaranteed multiplier for Perfect Picks
If a lineup correctly selects all picks, it qualifies for a guaranteed multiplier of the entry amount. The guaranteed multiplier varies based on:
- The number of picks in the lineup
- Players selected
- Stats selected
The multipliers account for the level of difficulty and any correlation between the picks in your lineup. Your guaranteed multiplier will be displayed within the product before entry and will adjust with each pick you select.
Prize pool distribution
The prize pool is split among the lineups with the most correct picks, as outlined in each contest's prize table.
Prize determination details
- If the prize pool split is greater than the guaranteed multiplier, the prize pool split will be awarded
- If the prize pool split is less than the guaranteed multiplier, FanDuel will credit the difference to ensure the guaranteed multiplier is met
Examples:
All examples use a 20x guaranteed multiplier for illustration purposes only. The actual multiplier will be displayed within the product before entry and will vary depending on the lineup size and picks selected.
Scenario 1: Perfect Picks | prize pool split is greater than guaranteed multiplier
Contest Details:
- Number of picks: 5-pick contest
- Entry fee: $1
- Prize pool to 1st place: $700
- Prize pool to 2nd place: $300
- Guaranteed multiplier for Perfect Picks: 20x
- Total entries: 1,000
- Number of perfect 1st place winning entries: 25
Payout:
- 25 entries achieved perfect 5/5 picks
- The prize pool split is greater than the guaranteed multiplier payout, so winners receive the prize pool split instead of the multiplier
Calculation:
- Prize pool split: $700 ÷ 25 = $28 per entry
- Guaranteed multiplier payout: $20
- Since $28 > $20, each 1st place winning entry receives $28
Scenario 2: Perfect Picks | prize pool split is less than guaranteed multiplier
Contest details:
- Number of picks: 5-pick contest
- Entry fee: $1
- Prize pool to 1st place: $700
- Prize pool to 2nd place: $300
- Guaranteed multiplier for Perfect Picks: 20x
- Entries: 1,000
- Number of perfect 1st place winning entries: 40
Payout
- 40 entries achieved perfect 5/5 picks
- The prize pool split is less than the guaranteed multiplier payout, so winners receive the full guaranteed multiplier payout
Calculation
- Prize pool split: $700 ÷ 40 = $17.50 per entry
- Guaranteed multiplier payout: $20
- Since $17.50 < $20, FanDuel will process an additional credit to pay the difference of the prize pool split and the guaranteed multiplier, and each winner receives $20 in total
Scenario 3: No Perfect Picks
Contest details:
- Number of picks: 5-pick contest
- Entry fee: $1
- Prize pool to 1st place: $700
- Prize pool to 2nd place: $300
- Entries: 1,000
- Guaranteed multiplier for Perfect Picks: 20x
- Number of 1st place winning entries with 4 of 5 correct picks: 100
Payout:
- No entries achieve a perfect 5/5 score. 100 entries achieve 4/5 correct picks
- The most correct entries (4/5 correct) split $700
- The second-most correct entries (3/5 correct) split $300
- The Perfect Picks multiplier is not activated since no lineups are perfect
Calculation:
- 100 entries had 4/5 correct, so each receives $7 ($700 ÷ 100 = $7)
- If a customer had 2 winning entries, their payout would be $14 ($7 × 2 = $14)
Lineup edits and late swaps
Editing restrictions
For all leagues, lineups may not be edited after they've been submitted. Users may cancel lineups barring the below exceptions:
You will not be able to cancel a lineup within 1 minute to contest lock.
Game Changes
Canceled, postponed, and rescheduled games
Games that count toward scoring
In the event that a game is canceled or postponed & rescheduled to start prior to 6:00 AM ET on the day following the original starting date, the game will be included in the slate and picks listed to play in that game can be scored as either a win or a loss (subject to minimum play requirement).
Games that don't count toward scoring
If a game is rescheduled for a time after 6:00 AM ET of the day following the original starting date, picks from that game will be voided.
Additional game timing rules
Original starting date
- The original starting date is defined as the timeframe between the scheduled start of the first game within the slate and 11:59PM ET on the same date
Slate adjustments
- FanDuel may choose to adjust the scoring period for a slate at its sole discretion to accommodate schedule changes any time before 6:00 AM ET on the day after the slate is scheduled to start
Game time changes
- FanDuel may move a slate or a game's start time if it is known that a game will be starting at an earlier or later defined time than originally announced
- Games are "known" to be canceled or postponed once their status is updated as such by FanDuel's stats provider(s)
- FanDuel may move the start time of a game if the league has given an official definitive new start time, and the original start time of the game has not yet been reached
Delayed games
- Games with a "delayed" start (due to weather or otherwise) that have no definite new start time will stay on their original start time
Full slate cancellation
If canceled or rescheduled games result in zero active games being included in a slate, all contests for that slate will be canceled and refunded.
Suspended or shortened games
If the league declares a game "suspended" then the statistics generated prior to the point of suspension will count towards contests. Any statistics generated after 6:00 AM ET on the date following the original start date when the game resumes will not count towards contests.
