The list of teams remaining in the 2022 World Cup features some shocking names with the quarterfinals bracket narrowed to the final eight countries in the tournament.

The Round of 16 came to an end on Tuesday, closing out with Morocco's shocking upset win over Spain, which means that we've had a few days without any matches for the first time since the World Cup kicked off.

Luckily for fans, the wait is over and World Cup action returns on Friday with two marquee matches on tap today.

World Cup Predictions Today

Croatia vs. Brazil

The Duel's Devon Platana broke down how he sees Croatia vs. Brazil playing out on Friday. Here's what he had to say in his betting preview:

Croatia and Brazil have met four times over the years, resulting in three victories for the Brazilians with one draw. Two of those wins took place at the World Cup (2006 and 2014), and I expect Brazil to get a third win over the Croatians at the event on Friday.

As solid as Croatia has been, it hasn't exactly been challenged too much this year. Aside from four goals against a lowly Canadian team, the Croatians have scored just once in their other three matches. While Brazil's competition hasn't been too difficult either, Neymar and co. have outscored opponents 7-1 when the starters are playing, looking head-and-shoulders above the opposition.

With Brazil having already established dominance over Croatia in the past, the next meeting will be no different. Look for Brazil's elite play on both sides of the ball to lead to a semifinal appearance.

Netherlands vs. Argentina

Larry Rupp broke down today's Netherlands vs. Argentina matchup in his betting preview for the afternoon game. Here's his take on how it plays out:

These two teams last met in the knockout round of the 2014 World Cup. It was an intense matchup that remained a 0-0 draw at the end of extra time before Argentina moved on via penalties. This one could very well come down to the wire, too, as both teams continue to build positive momentum.

This may be Lionel Messi's final World Cup and falling to the Dutch in the quarterfinals is certainly not how he wants to go out. It's a legitimate possibility, though. Netherlands is riding a 10-game unbeaten streak dating back to Nations League play and has scored first in every World Cup match so far.

I see this one going to extra time, with Argentina barely squeaking by thanks to its experience playing in high-pressured games.
