The 2021 MLB season is already almost a fourth of the way done and one team that has yet to stop winning games is the Chicago White Sox. This squad from the South Side is currently 22-13 and sits one game up on the Cleveland Indians for first place in the AL Central division.

The White Sox's sustained success has caused them to skyrocket in ESPN's latest MLB power rankings all the way up to the No. 1 spot. That is a massive jump from the No. 7 ranking they came in at last week.

White Sox News: First Place in ESPN MLB Power Rankings

It is no surprise that the White Sox have been winning due to a balanced attack of pitching and hitting. The team ranks No. 3 in the MLB with a team ERA of 3.20 and it also ranks No. 1 in the league by scoring 5.43 runs per game. It's hard to beat a team excelling on both sides of the baseball.

This pitching staff has been exceeding expectations all year as veterans Lance Lynn (4-1, 1.32 ERA) and Carlos Rodon (5-0, 0.58 ERA) headline a strong starting rotation. In fact, three different starting pitchers have pitched a complete game for the White Sox already this season.

The White Sox have been hitting the cover off of the ball as well. They have the 2nd-highest on-base percentage (0.344) of any MLB team and are averaging 8.66 hits per game (No. 3 in MLB). All things considered, this team has the pieces in place to be a true World Series threat this season.

The White Sox have odds set at -195 to win the AL Central, according to MLB odds posted on FanDuel Sportsbook. They also have the fifth-best odds in the MLB to win it all at +1100.
