Many people know Bruce Pearl for his successful career as a college basketball coach. His Auburn Tigers are one of the teams in this year's Final Four. But one thing most people don't know about Pearl is his career in basketball began as the team manager for the Boston College basketball team in 1978.

What's unique about that year is that's the season the infamous Boston College point-shaving scandal took place. And Pearl had a front row seat.

This is the same scandal that involved Henry Hill, Jimmy Burke and the rest of the Lucchese crime family made famous in the movie "Goodfellas" starring Robert DiNero, Joe Pesci and Ray Liotta.

Pearl discussed his experience in an interview with Dan Patrick this week.

What many people don't realize, and what the Hollywood reenactment doesn't point out, is that this scandal is what led to the arrest of the infamous mafia members (outside of Henry Hill), not the Lufthansa heist or other criminal activity the movie might insinuate.

It's an insane story by itself, but to hear it from an insiders perspective makes it all the more real and one most people probably never would hear if it wasn't for Pearl's rise to basketball prominence.

New customers will get 40/1 on any of the Final Four teams to win the tournament.
