Week 1 of the 2022 NCAA college football season includes a showdown between the Utah State Aggies and No. 1 Alabama Crimson Tide. The Aggies opened up the new campaign with a Week 0 victory over UConn last week, led by running back Calvin Tyler Jr. turning 33 carries into 161 yards while quarterback Logan Bonner had 281 yards and a trio of touchdowns through the air.

Having said that, Alabama is a much stiffer test than UConn. The Crimson Tide are the No. 1-ranked team to start the year after an impressive campaign that saw them win the SEC Championship and Cotton Bowl Classic, only to lose to Georgia in the National Championship. Utah State vs Alabama Prediction & Pick

Alabama and Utah State have only met twice over the years, but both games ended with a dominant victory for the former. The Crimson Tide defeated the Aggies, 35-3, the last time they met in 2005 and have outscored their opponents 83-20 overall in both meetings.

While the last meeting was about 17 years ago, it doesn't change the fact that Alabama has the best team in the nation. Unfortunately for Utah State fans, the Aggies have dropped each of their last eight matchups against SEC schools. Furthermore, the Crimson Tide are 20-0 straight up in their last 20 games played in September.

Although I don't think that Alabama will cover the 42.5-point spread, a blowout Crimson Tide victory is the likeliest scenario.
