The Minnesota Timberwolves (25-25) are set to host the Memphis Grizzlies (31-17) in one of five NBA matchups scheduled for Friday, Jan. 27.

Despite struggling at times this season, the Timberwolves have turned things around as of late, finding wins in three of their last four outings. Meanwhile, the Grizzlies haven't tasted victory in over a week, extending their losing streak to four games with Wednesday's 122-120 loss to the Golden State Warriors.

Can the Timberwolves add to their momentum with another strong home showing? Or will the Grizzlies finally break out of their slump at Minnesota's expense?

Timberwolves vs. Grizzlies Betting Trends

  • The Grizzlies have covered the spread 23 times over 47 games with a set spread.
  • The Timberwolves are 8-8 ATS when underdogs by 3 points or more this season.
  • This season, 22 of the Grizzlies' games have gone over the point total out of 49 chances.
  • Timberwolves games this year have hit the over 23 times in 49 opportunities (46.9%).
  • Against the spread, Memphis has performed better at home, covering 14 times in 22 home games, and nine times in 25 road games.
  • This year, Minnesota is 12-13-1 at home against the spread (.462 winning percentage). On the road, it is 10-13-0 ATS (.435).

Timberwolves vs. Grizzlies Prediction & Pick

While the Timberwolves have had more success than the Grizzlies lately, it's not like Minnesota has been beating championship contenders. The T-Wolves' last three victories came against the Toronto Raptors, Houston Rockets and New Orleans Pelicans, who have a combined winning percentage of just 40.1%.

Although the Grizzlies' road trip has been a disaster, it's worth noting that three of those losses were only by one or two points. After keeping things close, I can see Memphis bouncing back tonight. It helps that the Grizzlies average the seventh-most road points (114.4 PPG), whereas the Timberwolves allow the fifth-most at home (115.7 PPG).

Minnesota will also be shorthanded with Karl-Anthony Towns (calf) already ruled out while Rudy Gobert (groin) is questionable. The Grizzlies are good enough to take advantage of these injuries and should be able to escape Target Center with the win.

Final Score Prediction: Grizzlies: 119 | Timberwolves: 114

Timberwolves vs. Grizzlies Best Bet

This game's projected total is one of the highest of the night, however, I don't expect the Timberwolves and Grizzlies to surpass 238.5 points. For starters, the under is 9-3 in Memphis' last 12 road games, as well as 7-2 in Minnesota's last nine against Central Division opponents.

Furthermore, the under has been hit in six of the Timberwolves' last seven games against the Grizzlies, finishing with fewer than 238.5 points in each contest. With both sides also missing key players tonight due to injury, the under is the best bet.

Bet: Under 238.5 Points (-110)
