Last week "The Challenge: Total Madness" suffered some devastating losses. Jordan, one of the best competitors in show history, is gone, and Bear, a modern-day Romeo, was sent home as well. But even without two of the most entertaining cast members, the show charges on.
And here at The Duel, we will too. Each week, we'll be providing fantasy picks and power rankings for every episode of the season. Here are our picks for Week 9.
The Challenge Fantasy Picks Week 9
Like last week, this episode will feature a double elimination, meaning two girls will be headed home. Having already secured a red skull, Dee's best course of action would be to stay under the radar and coast all the way to the final. However, we're willing to bet that doesn't happen. Dee seems to be a bit cockier this season than we've seen from her in the past, and that could either lead to her playing puppet master in the double elimination, or potentially being the victim of a blind side. Either way, she's likely to be heavily featured here and is our MVP of the week.
2. Josh/Swaggy C
As mentioned above, it's a good idea to try and get as many girls into your lineup as possible this week. Still, it's hard to ignore a sneak peak that shows the brewing rivalry between Swaggy C and Josh. Not only is a beef with Swaggy a much-more fitting rivalry for Josh than the one he has in his head with Wes, but it appears the confrontation could get pretty heated. Both are cheap and should be solid sources of screen time and fantasy points, making them safe plays here.
There will be a total of four women heading into elimination tonight and statistically speaking, there's a pretty solid chance that Mattie will be among that group. Unless she goes up against Jenny one-on-one, it's hard not to like Mattie's chances of emerging with a red skull. She's a pretty low-cost option, but Mattie certainly carries big-time upside if she's sent into elimination.
The Challenge Power Rankings Week 9
The following power rankings break down the long-term outlook of which competitors have the best chance at winning the show outright.
5. Nelson – As horrendously as Nelson has played this game, his brand-new red skull and undeniable athletic ability do make him a legitimate threat. Were it not for the self-inflicted target on his back, he'd be higher on this list.
3. Fessy – Though the elimination and matchup with Jordan were obviously suited to his strengths, Fessy put himself on the map last week. He absolutely destroyed Jordan, and no one in their right mind would want to take him on after that. Fessy should be able to coast for a while.
4. Kailah – Most of Kailah's time on the show thus far has been spent focusing on her romance with Bear. It'll be interesting to see how she bounces back now that he's gone.
2. Dee – Dee has strong alliances, is a great competitor and she should be considered one of the biggest threats to win it all.
