The 2019 Rogers Cup, the third-oldest tennis tournament in the tour's history, kicks off this Tuesday afternoon with the defending champion Rafael Nadal coming in as the heavy betting favorite.
At +195 odds, according to FanDuel Sportsbook, the four-time Rogers Cup champ will look to defend his title over a field that doesn't include Novak Djokovic nor Roger Federer.
Other players with top odds to win include Dominic Thiem (+1000), Alexander Zverev (+1200), Daniil Medvedev (+1400), Stefanos Tsitsipas (+1400), Kei Nishikori (+1700) and Nick Kyrgios (+1800). Beyond that, the rest of the field have 20-to-1 odds or worse. Some notables long shots include Milos Raonic (+2300), Gael Monfils (+3000), Marin Cilic (+3000) and John Isner (+3800).
Tsitsipas was the runner-up to Nadal in last year's final, and Zverev won the hard-court tournament in 2017. Nishikori and Raonic are the only other players in the field to reach the final at the Rogers Cup, in 2016 and 2013, respectively.
Nadal's first match is scheduled for 10 a.m. EST on Wednesday with his opponent still TBD. While the Spaniard is the clear favorite, there are enough top-100 players in the field that it won't likely be an easy road to the title.
