Teddy Bridgewater Injury Update: Will Dolphins QB Play Through Dislocated Pinky?

With starting quarterback Tua Tagovailoa still recovering from his second concussion of the season, all eyes this week will be on the status of Teddy Bridgewater and his right pinky injury.

Bridgewater suffered a dislocated pinky late in the third quarter against the Patriots and did not return to the game.

X-rays came back negative for a fracture, but the dislocation will still affect his grip and could cause him to be ineffective this week against the Jets.

Bridgewater will undoubtedly practice this week and attempt to find a grip that works for him, but Skylar Thompson could be the more effective option for a must-win Dolphins team.

If the Dolphins win and the Patriots lose to the Bills, the Dolphins would sneak in as the final wildcard team in the AFC.

It’s entirely possible Bridgewater is not active for Sunday’s contest. If that’s the case, recently signed quarterback Mike Glennon would serve as the backup to Thompson.

Bridgewater was 12 of 19 for 161 yards with a touchdown and an interception before leaving with the pinky injury. Thompson went 12 for 21 for 104 yards with a touchdown and an interception after replacing Bridgewater late in the third quarter.

Depending on if the NFL reschedules the contest between the Bengals and Bills, the Chiefs could clinch the top spot in the AFC with a win Saturday against the Raiders.

The Dolphins are 1-point underdogs at home against the Jets and the over/under is 38.5, according to FanDuel Sportsbook.
