Stefon Diggs Fantasy Football Outlook 2022 (Expect Another WR1-Type Season)

Stefon Diggs Fantasy Football Outlook 2022 (Expect Another WR1-Type Season)

Updated:

After an incredible 2020 NFL campaign, fantasy manager owners were a bit disappointed with Stefon Diggs' production last year. Though he still finished as PPR's WR7, averaging 16.8 fantasy points per game, it was 3.7 points fewer than he averaged as the WR3 just one year prior.

Having said that, Diggs' 2021 performance could've been a one-off. He's still one of the most talented wideouts in the game and with a stud like Josh Allen throwing him the pigskin, expect Diggs to be on the hunt to add more respect to his name in the upcoming season.

Stefon Diggs Fantasy Football Outlook

Despite only hitting the 100-yard mark twice in 2021, Diggs managed to finish his seventh NFL campaign with 164 receptions for 1,225 yards and a career-high 10 touchdowns.

The Bills hope that WR Gabriel Davis can take another step forward in his development, which would take a load off Diggs' shoulders. The latter faced a lot of top coverage last year, so players like Davis, Jamison Crowder and rookie Khalil Shakir stepping up could take some attention away from Diggs.

Regardless of who's around him, Diggs has averaged 165 targets in his first two seasons with the Bills. Allen clearly sees him as one of his most trusted weapons and unless the gunslinger has had a change of heart, it should stay that way in 2022 and beyond.

Stefon Diggs Projections

Projections from the NFL odds on FanDuel Sportsbook are high on Diggs. He's in a three-way tie at +1400 odds (T-No. 4) to lead the league in receiving yards next season. That's fairly appropriate considering that he has the fourth-most receiving yards in the NFL (2,760) since joining the Bills in 2020.

Diggs also owns the seventh-best odds (+1400) to lead the NFL in receiving TDs. That's something he's yet to do in his career, however, his 18 receiving TDs since 2020 rank T-8th over that stretch.

FanDuel has listed Diggs' projected receiving yards total at 1,225.5 with -112 odds on both the over and under. With the over only being one more yard than he recorded last season, it's safe to say that he'll come close to (or surpass) that total as long as he stays healthy.

Is Stefon Diggs a Good Fantasy Football Pick?

Despite last season's inconsistencies, Diggs remains one of the best wideouts that you can land in fantasy football. His 16.8 PPR points per game ranked 11th-best among WRs in fantasy last year, making him one of the few WR1s out there.

Fantasy Pros currently has Diggs slated as the WR5 in PPR, which makes sense if he can be more consistent. He also carries an average draft position of 13.7, making him a player that managers will likely target towards the end of Round 1 or the start of Round 2. Either way, that's a good spot for a player of his talents.
