Steelers Get Big T.J. Watt Injury Update Ahead of Week 10

Updated:

Pittsburgh Steelers star pass-rusher T.J. Watt hasn't played since he tore his pectoral muscle during Pittsburgh's overtime victory against the Cincinnati Bengals in Week 1. While there was an initial fear that the injury would sideline Watt for the entire season, he has been able to work his way back and now looks poised for a potential return in Week 10.

Steelers head coach Mike Tomlin indicated on a radio interview that he thinks Watt could come back on Sunday against the New Orleans Saints.

Watt visited a high school football team on Tuesday and echoed those same sentiments, saying he was "optimistic" about playing on Sunday.

Watt was off to a hot start, already recording a sack and 6 tackles (including 3 for a loss) in the season opener before going down. His return would provide a big boost to a scuffling Steelers squad that has gone just 1-6 in his absence and is allowing the 10th-most points per game in the NFL.

Pittsburgh is a 2.5-point home underdog in Week 10 against New Orleans, according to FanDuel Sportsbook's latest NFL odds.
