It's not what anyone around baseball expected this season, but the San Francisco Giants are the best team in the MLB. With their 59-34 overall record, this team owns the best record in baseball and a 2.0-game lead in the strong NL West division.

Well, the rich look to keep getting richer at the upcoming MLB Trade Deadline on July 30. According to multiple sources, the Giants are reportedly seen as a key contender to land Gold Glove and one-time All-Star outfielder Startling Marte from the Miami Marlins.

Miami, on the other hand, is barley treading water in the NL East with their 40-54 record, trailing the first-place New York Mets by 10.5 games. Marte, at 32-years-old, is set to hit free agency this offseason and the Marlins may be looking towards the future come deadline time.

San Francisco's interest in Marte would be a perfect marriage. Not only would the two-time Gold Glove winner be a great addition defensively in that deep outfield at Oracle Park. But, he'd also add a serious punch to the lineup. The Giants currently rank with the seventh-best offense in baseball with 457 runs, but the outfield averages an OPS of just .782 on the year.

Marte is slashing .290/.391/.449 for an OPS of .840 while remaining a huge threat on the base-paths. His 19 stolen bases ranks top-five in the MLB while the Giants rank bottom-third in that stat.

The addition of Marte would surely boost the Giants' World Series odds. Currently, San Francisco owns the eighth-best World Series odds (+1400) in baseball on FanDuel Sportsbook.
