Two schools heading in opposite directions meet in Week 7 of the 2022 NCAA college football season as the Stanford Cardinal face the Notre Dame Fighting Irish. While the Cardinal have lost four straight games, the Fighting Irish are on the rise as they ride their three-game winning streak.

Stanford vs Notre Dame Odds

According to FanDuel Sportsbook's college football odds, Notre Dame is a major -850 favorite on the moneyline (16.5-point spread) in a game with a 53.5-point over/under.

What should college football fans expect in this matchup, and where can bettors find value?

Stanford vs Notre Dame Prediction and Best Bet

While there were moments when Stanford and Notre Dame went back and forth over the years, it's been all good for the Fighting Irish lately. Notre Dame has won three straight matchups against Stanford, winning the trio of games with an average win margin of 24.3 points.

Notre Dame may have had a slow start to the season, but Marcus Freeman's team seems to be getting past any growing pains. The Fighting Irish just defeated No. 16 BYU last week, whereas the Cardinal are currently 0-3 against ranked teams this season.

Something that also doesn't help Stanford's case is its terrible defense. The Cardinal defense gives up 431.6 total yards and 32.8 points per game, which is something that the Fighting Irish will exploit. After all, Notre Dame has averaged 32.3 PPG over its winning streak.

When Notre Dame inevitably gets a big lead, the running game is more than capable of running out the clock. Stanford yields 219 rushing yards per game (No. 122) while Notre Dame has averaged the 18th-most rushing yards over the last three weeks (174.8).

With the road team's terrible defense mixed with the home squad's improved play, I'll take Notre Dame winning decisively here. Keeping that in mind, I do like the Fighting Irish at -16.5 and the total hitting over 53.5 points this week.
