Seahawks' Signing Points to Bad News on Kenneth Walker Injury

Updated:

Heading into Week 14 with a 7-5 record, and very much afloat in the NFC playoff picture, the Seattle Seahawks have been one of the best surprises of the 2022 season. Much of the credit is due to rookie running back Kenneth Walker, who has scored nine of his team's 12 rushing TDs with 649 yards.

Unfortunately, the rookie back played very sparingly in Week 13 because of an ankle issue. The Seahawks announced the signing of running back Wayne Gallman on Tuesday, perhaps a bad sign for Walker's chances of playing in Week 14.

Gallman has been added to the practice squad, according to NFL insider Ian Rapoport. He calls the signing "added depth." And that's exactly all Seahawks fans should consider the signing, for now.

Head coach Pete Carroll described Walker's injury "a strain" and not a sprain. The issue has caused inflammation in his foot and ankle.

Carroll did not reveal a definitive answer on Walker's status for Week 14, but said "it's possible" he plays against the Carolina Panthers.
