With NFL free agency rapidly approaching, teams are preparing to make moves that will set them on the right course in 2021. Some very intriguing players will hit the open market this offseason, and it'll be revealed soon where some of those big names land.
ProFootballFocus predicts one of these interesting free agent to sign with the Miami Dolphins -- former Green Bay Packers RB Aaron Jones.
Aaron Jones Dolphins
The Dolphins are a budding contender, just missing the playoffs in 2020 but showing serious potential for what this team could turn into with the right moves. With a projected $33 million in cap space and the No. 3 overall pick, Miami is in prime position to make serious upgrades this offseason, and landing Jones would give them the RB1 they desperately need.
Jones broke out in the 2019 season, rushing for a league-leading 16 touchdowns along with 1,084 yards. He followed that up with 9 TDs and 1,104 yards for Green Bay in 2020. Jones also brings value as a receiver, with an average of 48.0 receptions and 414.5 yards over the last two seasons.
Investing in a Pro Bowl talent like Jones would finally give the Dolphins a running back they can rely on, opening up their offense even more. Myles Gaskin, Salvon Ahmed and Matt Breida were just some of the options Miami turned to in 2020, and production was inconsistent from that trio. In fact, the last time Miami had a running back rush for even 800 yards in a single season was Jay Ajayi in 2017.
With a star in the backfield, and hopefully some incoming WR weapons to put around Tua Tagovailoa, the Dolphins would have an electric offense to go along with their rising defense, cementing their contender status in 2021.
