Injury Advantage: Dallas Run Defense

The Eagles will have backups at key positions this Saturday in a game with little playoff implications for them. Philadelphia could remain in the No. 6 seed with a win, but will play on the road in the wild card round no matter the result.

Miles Sanders has already been ruled out with a hand injury, while Jordan Howard and Boston Scott are on the COVID reserve list. Neither running back was activated from the list before the deadline Friday.

ProFootballDoc, Dr. David Chao, said keeping the running backs on the list allows the Eagles to activate practice squad players for the game and allow the running backs an extra week of rest.

Jalen Hurts is also likely to rest for at least half the game because the Eagles want to get his right ankle healthy for the playoffs, Chao said.

The Eagles will have some offensive line changes as well. Left guard Landon Dickerson is dealing with a thumb injury, 11-year center Jason Kelce has chronic knee issues and right guard Nate Herbig is on the COVID list. Kelce does have an active streak of 121 consecutive starts, meaning he will likely start the game then rest. Left tackle Lane Johnson is also questionable with a knee injury. That would leave them down three key, maybe four, offensive linemen against a Cowboys team with its defensive line intact. Dallas has been middle of the pack in rushing yards allowed this season, giving up over 100 yards in 11 of 17 games. Philadelphia leads the league in rushing yards this season, but don’t expect the same dominant rushing attack against the Cowboys.

As of Saturday morning, the Cowboys were 3.5-point favorites for the game and 2.5-point favorites in the first half on FanDuel Sportsbook.
