The Ohio State Buckeyes have defeated their budding Big Ten East rival Penn State Nittany Lions in seven of the last eight meetings, and it certainly doesn't look like the oddsmakers believe that pattern of dominance is going to end this year either.

Even with the 2020 college football offseason experiencing some unprecedented spring delays and cancellations, the odds and spreads around more than 100 of this fall's biggest matchups are now available on FanDuel Sportsbook.

Penn State vs Ohio State Spread 2020

Sitting months away from the 35th all-time meeting between these two football programs, Ohio State has already opened as a healthy 4.5-point favorite to beat Penn State in Week 8 on the road in State College later this fall, according to FanDuel Sportsbook.

Even though Ohio State has won both seven of the last eight total meetings in this series and five of the last six matchups with Penn State on the road in State College, this annual Big Ten East battle has been incredibly tight over the past four seasons.

Three of the past four series meetings have been decided by three points or fewer, including the most recent meeting between these two schools in State College, which was decided by a single point in Ohio State's favor, 27-26, in 2018.

Considering Penn State would have covered the spread with a plus-4.5-point handicap in three of the last four meetings, gifting Ohio State more than a full field goal on the road for this year's meeting feels like no small gesture.

Even though Ohio State is losing Chase Young, Jeff Okudah and J.K. Dobbins to the 2020 NFL Draft, the Buckeyes still return their most important talent in QB Justin Fields. OSU isn't alone on that front either, as Penn State is returning their own star QB Sean Clifford after orchestrating the No. 15 scoring offense in the country (35.8 PPG) last season. The Nittany Lions will also return arguably the most talented defender in the Big Ten in Micah Parsons at linebacker/DE for his junior season.

There's still plenty of time for things to change between now and the 2020 clash between these two Big Ten East titans, but the Buckeyes remain noticeable early road favorites for the time being. Barring any scheduling changes we may see, Penn State is currently set to host Ohio State at Beaver Stadium on Saturday, Oct. 24, 2020.
