NASCAR Fantasy Picks for FanShield 500

After Alex Bowman took home the checkered flag in last Sunday's Auto Club 400 race, the 2020 NASCAR Cup Series turns its attention to this weekend and the FanShield 500, formerly known as the TicketGuardian 500 (2018-19).

With the next race at Phoenix Raceway in Avondale, Arizona, let's take a look at three drivers to consider when building your NASCAR fantasy team for the 2020 FanShield 500 at 3:30 p.m. EST on Sunday, March 8.

Phoenix Fantasy Picks

Kevin Harvick
Among all active drivers in this Sunday's race, no one has more wins (nine), a better winning percentage (26.47 percent), average finishing position (9.18) nor led more laps (1,595) on this track than Kevin Harvick. Harvick last won this event in 2018, and across his 34 career performances at Phoenix Raceway, Harvick has clocked 30 top-20 finishes (88.24 percent), 23 top-10 finishes (67.65 percent), 17 top-5 finishes (50.0 percent) beyond his nine total wins – all four of which lead active drivers in Sunday's race. Harvick has averaged a 5.00 finishing position over his last four races here, and his outstanding track record makes it nearly impossible to discredit him as a viable fantasy play.

Kyle Busch
With three wins here, Kyle Busch may not have quite as many total victories on this track as Harvick (9), but he has proven the most dangerous threat to take home the checkered flag at this event over his last four races. Kyle Busch won last year's FanShield 500 (then known as the TicketGuardian 500), and two of his three career wins on this track have come in his last four races here. Despite Harvick's unparalleled total dominance at Phoenix Raceway, Busch actually boasts a field-best 1.50 average finishing position across his last four races here. As for career comparisons between the two, though, Busch also has the edge over Harvick in top-10 finishing position efficiency with a field-best 72.41 percent (21-of-29 races).

Denny Hamlin
While Denny Hamlin doesn't have the same winning record at this track (6.90 percent, 2 wins) as Harvick or Kyle Busch, he's right behind that pair in most career measures here. Hamlin's career 10.97 average finishing position at Phoenix Raceway ranks fourth among active drivers in this year's race, and his 5.75 average finishing position over his last four performances here ranks third (behind Harvick and Busch). Over those last four races at Phoenix Raceway, Hamlin has also led for the second-most laps with 183 and posted four top-20 finishes (Tied for No. 1), three top-10 finishes (T–No. 2), three top-5 finishes (T–No. 2) and one win (T–No. 2).
