There's a lot to be fired up about if you're a fan of the Dallas Cowboys heading into next season. The 2021 NFL schedule just dropped and Dallas owns the 10th-easiest slate in the league next year. And, even after a disappointing 6-10 campaign last season, Dallas owns the 6th-best odds to win the NFC, according to the latest NFL odds on FanDuel Sportsbook.
Not to mention, the Cowboys had a monster draft class and selected 11 players in the 2021 NFL Draft. Rookie linebacker Micah Parsons headlines this draft class and Cowboys fans will love hearing that he's wanted to be in Dallas long before he was drafted.
The Penn State product detailed that he's been eager to learn from a pair of veteran Cowboys linebackers in Jaylon Smith and Leighton Vander Esch. He even told Smith "he wanted to be teammates," long before his final college season wrapped up.
Smith and Vander Esch are definitely a pair of linebackers to model your game after. Smith led all Dallas defenders with 154 combined (89 solo) tackles in 2020. He also recovered two fumbles and added an interception. Vander Esch owns 272 combined (177 solo) tackles in three somewhat shortened years for Dallas. That's an average of 90 combined (59 solo) tackles each season, which is simply remarkable.
Parsons will hope to provide an immediate impact for the Cowboys' defense this season. This defense ranked as the 10th worst in the league after giving up 386.4 yards per game last year. Adding a playmaker like Parsons should alleviate some of those struggles.
