Maple Leafs vs Panthers Prediction, Odds & Best Bet for NHL Playoffs Game 4 (Can Bobrovsky & Co. Complete Sweep?)

Updated:

The 2022-23 NHL Stanley Cup Playoffs continue on Wednesday, May 10 as the Toronto Maple Leafs and Florida Panthers are set to play Game 4 of their second-round series.

Maple Leafs vs Panthers Game 4 Info

  • Series: FLA leads 3-0
  • Date: Wednesday, May 10, 2023
  • Time: 7 p.m. ET

The Maple Leafs and Panthers traded goals back and forth in Game 3, needing overtime to solve things following a 2-2 tie in regulation. It only took just over three minutes into OT for Sam Reinhart to score the game-winning goal, giving Florida the 3-2 victory and a commanding 3-0 series lead.

Maple Leafs vs Panthers Prediction & Pick

The Maple Leafs are a team that shouldn't be swept on paper, but that certainly doesn't look like the case now. They're playing an uninspiring brand of hockey and their top players aren't showing up. Auston Matthews, Mitch Marner, and John Tavares were relatively invisible in a must-win Game 3, which is unacceptable for a trio with a combined cap hit of over $33 million (per CapFriendly).

It also doesn't look like the Maple Leafs are even close to solving Panthers goaltender Sergei Bobrovsky. The Russian netminder has only allowed six goals on 97 shots (.938 save percentage) through three games. I don't see that changing seeing as how Toronto has been held to exactly two goals in five consecutive outings.

It's also important to give credit to the Panthers. They just knocked off the best regular-season time of all time and are now up 3-0 on one of the Stanley Cup favorites. With a six-game winning streak providing a huge boost, Florida is more than capable of closing out this series Wednesday night.

Final Score Prediction: Panthers: 4 | Maple Leafs: 2

Maple Leafs vs Panthers Best Bet

With starting goalie Ilya Samsonov getting hurt in Game 3, I like the Maple Leafs' odds to stay alive even less. The fact that they're still the betting favorites Wednesday is also disrespectful considering what the Panthers have accomplished lately, which includes six consecutive upset wins.

At the end of the day, the Leafs' core just isn't good enough to get the job done. The Panthers are fully in control and have played better in pretty much all aspects. Back an underdog win as Florida completes the sweep.

Bet: Panthers to Win Outright (+102)
