The Detroit Lions have been humming on offense so far in 2022. They are tied for the second-highest points per game mark (35.5) and rank fourth in total yards per game (405.5). The efforts of running back D'Andre Swift have been a major reason why, so fans will be glad to hear his latest injury update.
D'Andre Swift Injury Update
Swift will suit up against the Minnesota Vikings on Sunday despite dealing with "lingering pain" from the ankle injury he suffered back in Week 1. Insider Tom Pelissero even mentioned that the former Georgia standout could see a bigger workload after being put on a pitch count in a Week 2 victory.
It's a logical assumption to make considering Swift did return to practice on Thursday and Friday. Against the Washington Commanders, he played in 51% of the offensive snaps and turned 7 touches into 87 yards to go along with 1 touchdown. Swift played in 67% of the Week 1 offensive snaps.
Keep in mind Swift now leads the NFL averaging 10.0 yards per carry and ranks fourth in rushing yards (200). The 23-year-old has been dominant and has helped draw in a fan base desperate for a winning season. A road game against a divisional opponent comes with another chance to impress.
Not only is Swift active and ready to go, but he faces a Vikings squad that has posted the worst rush defense DVOA rating in the NFL this year. He has a chance to run wild. The Lions are slated as a 6-point road underdog with odds set at +215 on the moneyline, per FanDuel Sportsbook's NFL odds.
