Not too many people have high hopes for the Detroit Lions in 2021. One of the main reasons is their offensive skill position unit. After losing both Marvin Jones and Kenny Golladay in free agency, the Lions did very little to try and replace that production.

They even released Breshad Perriman earlier this week, someone they signed in the offseason, expected to come in and compete for the No. 1 wide receiver role.

However, they are making one last push through the waiver wire and they're targeting 26-year-old wideout KhaDarel Hodge. Hodge has 17 career receptions over three combined seasons with the Los Angeles Rams and Cleveland Browns.

Hodge will most likely be a special teams contributor, but with such little proven depth in Detroit's wide receiver corps, he could be given a real shot at times on offense.

It's certainly not a flashy name, but those days are long past for the Lions this offseason. They have to hope for lightning in a bottle and it's clear with this pickup.

Detroit heads into Week 1 of the NFL season as 7.5-point underdogs against the San Francisco 49ers, according to FanDuel Sportsbook.
