Likely Jose Quintana Free Agency Price Tag Revealed

Likely Jose Quintana Free Agency Price Tag Revealed

Updated:

It's been less than a week since the World Series ended and teams around baseball already have their eyes on free agency. That includes the St. Louis Cardinals, who have a decision to make about the future of lefty pitcher Jose Quintana.

Quintana officially became a free agent on Sunday, and now MLB insider Kiley McDaniel has revealed the expected price tag on his next contract.

McDaniel projects Quintana will get a contract in the neighborhood of two years and $28 million, or $14 million in average annual value (AAV).

St. Louis acquired the veteran lefty back during August's trade deadline, where he flourished over a two-month stretch. The 33-year-old pitched to a 2.01 ERA across 12 starts.

McDaniel believes the veteran lefty slots in as a No. 4 starter for most rotations, but will be enough to garner a multi-year deal.
