New Orleans Saints fans were stunned on Monday night when it was reported that Latavius Murray was signed off of the team's practice squad by the Denver Broncos. Many wondered why the Saints would've let this happen instead of adding the veteran running back to their official 53-man roster, especially given Alvin Kamara's recent injury woes.
Well, new details reveal Murray actually had a chance to stick around with New Orleans.

Nick Underhill of NewOrleans.Football reports Murray was offered a roster spot by the Saints, but he rejected them in order to sign with the Broncos. His 65-yard, 1-TD performance in Week 4 was sure to draw some attention from around the league, so it's no surprise that Denver came calling and snatched him up.
This news at least helps clear up some of Saints fans' frustrations. New Orleans did the right thing by attempting to sign Murray, and the team can't fault him for deciding to go elsewhere. The 32-year-old would've been the No. 2 or 3 option with the Saints if he stuck around, but he could challenge Melvin Gordon for RB1 duties with the Broncos after Javonte Williams' injury.
The former Pro Bowler has been a journeyman throughout his career, suiting up for five different teams throughout his nine seasons. He's rushed for 5,549 yards and 50 touchdowns since debuting in 2014.
