Kings vs Oilers Prediction, Odds & Best Bet for NHL Playoffs Game 2 (Edmonton's Stars Bounce Back)

Updated:

The 2022-23 NHL Stanley Cup Playoffs have several matchups planned for Wednesday, April 19, including Game 2 of the Western Conference's Los Angeles Kings vs. Edmonton Oilers series.

Kings vs Oilers Game 2 Info

  • Series: Kings lead 1-0
  • Date: Wednesday, April 19, 2023
  • Time: 10 p.m. ET
  • Venue: Rogers Place -- Edmonton, Alberta
  • Coverage: ESPN

In an intense Game 1 collision, the Oilers were on their way to victory before Kings captain Anze Kopitar buried a power-play goal with 17 seconds remaining in regulation to tie the game. Overtime didn't last long at all as Alex Iaffalo scored on the man advantage at 9:19 into OT to lead Los Angeles to a 4-3 win.

Can the Oilers even the series before falling into a hole? Or will the Kings prove oddsmakers wrong once again?

Kings vs Oilers Betting Trends

  • Los Angeles is 4-1 straight up in its last five road games.
  • Edmonton is 9-2 straight up in its last 11 home games.
  • The total has hit the over in four of Los Angeles' last five games.
  • The total has hit the under in five of Edmonton's last seven games against Los Angeles.

Kings vs Oilers Prediction & Pick

One of the things that the Kings did well in Game 1 was holding Connor McDavid to 0 points. Unfortunately for Los Angeles supporters, I don't see that happening again. After all, McDavid has 38 points in his last 24 games against the Kings, having been held off the scoresheet only five times over that stretch.

The Oilers also haven't lost back-to-back home games at all during their last 13 outings at Rogers Place. At the same time, the Kings haven't won two straight outings in Edmonton in nearly eight years. The Oilers know how to bounce back at home and will start things off hot with the likes of McDavid, Leon Draisaitl, Zach Hyman, etc. leading the charge.

The Oilers also fell 4-3 in Game 1 of last year's postseason series against the Kings, only to rebound with a 6-0 effort in the second encounter. Although I don't see Edmonton blowing Los Angeles out this time around, I do expect Jay Woodcroft's team to even the series.

Final Score Prediction: Oilers: 5 | Kings: 3

Kings vs Oilers Best Bet

Even though I see the Oilers winning, the Kings should put up a decent number of goals. Los Angeles is averaging 3.5 goals over its last 20 games, finishing with more than 2.5 on 14 of those occasions. It's also scored at least 3 goals in five of its last nine games against Edmonton.

With offensively gifted players like Kopitar, Kevin Fiala, Adrian Kempe, Viktor Arvidsson and more on LA's roster, I'll take the over on the Kings' total goal prop.

Bet: Kings Total Goals — Over 2.5 (-122)
