Josh Jacobs Deletes Cryptic Tweet on Josh McDaniels Hiring

Updated:

The Las Vegas Raiders made headlines on Sunday by hiring Josh McDaniels as the team's next head coach. McDaniels has a complicated history as an HC, which has made some skeptical about giving him another chance, especially with a team coming off of a playoff appearance.

It turns out Raiders running back Josh Jacobs might be among those hesitant about the hire.

Jacobs tweeted an emoji with a concerned look following news of the McDaniels hire. Though the post is cryptic, it's hard to believe it wasn't a response to the hiring given the timing.

Jacobs (or his agent/PR team) seemed to realize it could ruffle feathers, and the tweet was deleted two minutes after it first went up.

This certainly doesn't look like the greatest start to McDaniels' tenure. There's no telling if other players share Jacobs' view, but it's worrying that one of the team's stars might not be fully on board with the hire.

McDaniels flamed out in his first head-coaching stint, going 11-17 with the Denver Broncos before being fired after Week 13 of his second season. Then, he infamously backed out of an agreement to become the Indianapolis Colts' new head coach in 2018.

The Raiders' next HC might have his work cut out for him if he's to earn the trust of the locker room.
