The NFL offseason is in full swing and that means the 2021 draft will be here sooner than you know it. Mock drafts and prospect rankings are being published all over the place, but one player is consistently rising up as time goes on. That player is LSU linebacker Jabril Cox.
CBS recently had Cox jump up 22 spots from No. 107 overall to No. 85 overall after he balled out during practices and in the Senior Bowl. He is on the edge of being in the top 10 ranked linebackers heading into the draft and has the versatility to back up all the hype.
Jabril Cox NFL Draft
Cox racked up 58 tackles (6.5 for a loss), 1 sack, 3 interceptions and 8 pass breakups during his senior season. He earned second-team All-SEC honors as well. Last season was his first at LSU after he was part of a North Dakota State team that went 45-1 during his three seasons there.
With a 6-foot-2, 233 pound frame, Cox has the size and speed to make tackles all over the field as well as the coverage skills necessary to be an NFL linebacker. His pure athleticism and playmaking abilities is what is catching the eye of a lot of NFL scouts.
Plus, Cox only missed one game in his college career due to injury. He isn't a perfect prospect by any means and needs to develop his skills in rush defense, but Cox might end up being a steal in the NFL draft. Don't be surprised if you hear his name called earlier than expected.
