The New Orleans Saints were unable to pull off a gritty win over the Cincinnati Bengals in Week 6. Cincinnati pulled a miraculous one-play touchdown drive in the final minutes to stun the Saints at home.
The meeting also brought the return of cornerback Eli Apple, who will forever live in the heads of Saints fans for his brutal comments about the city of New Orleans. Not only did Apple showboat up and down the field at the end of regulation, but he took to Twitter for another postgame jab.
Fortunately, Saints fans can hang their hats on one thing: Apple was terrible in this contest.
According to team insider Jeff Duncan, Apple was the lowest graded player on both the Saints and Bengals according to ProFootballFocus' grades. This included 2 missed tackles and allowing 4 of the 7 targets that came his way for receptions (51 yards).
It's just a little bit of solace. Apple did break up a pass on the final play of the game, but that was the only thing he did to help Cincinnati win on Sunday.
