The 2022 MLB season has come to a conclusion, meaning front offices around the league are now going to start shifting attention to free agency. 131 players were officially declared as free agents on Sunday, including five Cincinnati Reds contributors.
Although not much of Cincinnati's current roster inspires much faith following a 100-loss season, only two of the five upcoming free agents played a large impact. The full list includes Chase Anderson, Austin Romine, Donovan Solano, Hunter Strickland and Justin Wilson.
Solano added infield depth to the roster and made appearances in 80 games, slashing .284/.339/.385 with 24 RBIs. Strickland was the other impactful player on this list, a reliever who pitched 62.1 innings.
Anderson and Wilson pitched a combined 27.2 innings this season while Romine was one of seven catchers that played for the franchise in 2022.
The Reds have a long offseason ahead of themselves thanks to a roster that does not possess enough MLB talent. As it stands, the Reds hold +12000 odds to win the 2023 World Series on FanDuel Sportsbook.
