3 Dark Horse Picks to Win 2022 PGA Championship at FanDuel Sportsbook

Updated:

It's nearing tee time in Tulsa for the 104th PGA Championship. The 2022 event returns to Southern Hills Country Club and the second major golf tournament of the year includes the last winner at Southern Hills, Tiger Woods (2007). Woods is a longshot and dark horse (+6500) at the PGA Championship following his return to competitive golf at the 2022 Masters.

PGA Championship Golf Picks 2022

Beyond the favorites and early bets to win, there are plenty of capable contenders at longer odds to win the PGA Championship.

With longshots in mind, here are three dark horses that could make a run at the PGA Championship leaderboard and win the Wanamaker Trophy.

2022 PGA Championship Dark Horse Picks

1. Shane Lowry (+2900)

Lowry's odds to win the 2022 PGA Championship have been plummeting for months. The 35-year-old Irishman and 2019 Open Champion has four top-3 finishes on the PGA Tour this year and is No. 3 on Tour in birdie average. He's not too good putting on bentgrass greens, but his approach play has been elite. With more unknown bounces and uneven lies on the longer Southern Hills course, Lowry can contend with his touch, superb sand play and required skills on and around the greens.

2. Daniel Berger (+5000)

Berger's consistent game and solid stats in Approach, Tee-to-Green and Ball Striking make him a dark horse threat. He tied for 6th in the tough conditions on par 70 comp course at Shinnecock Hills for the 2018 U.S. Open, and the 29-year-old has elevated his game since then as a top-25 player in the world rankings.

3. Tommy Fleetwood (+8000)

As the winds pick up and the temperatures dip Friday and Saturday, Fleetwood is a proven performer in wind and tougher conditions. He finished 2nd in the 2018 U.S. Open on a comparable course with a sizzling final round to finish one shot behind Brooks Koepka, who won with a +1 final score. Fleetwood's Around the Green game remains a strength, and he does have five top-25 finishes on Tour since March.
