Just three more PGA Tour events until the FedEx Cup Playoffs following last week's final major at St. Andrews for the Open Championship. Now it's back stateside for the 3M Open in the Twin Cities.
3M Open Golf Picks 2022
With longshots in mind, here are three dark horses that could make a run at the 3M Open leaderboard and come away with high finish or win on Sunday. Check out the 3M Open odds and prop bets on FanDuel Sportsbook.
1. Nick Hardy (+3700)
Nick Hardy is really on the rise with three top-15 finishes the past month. The 26-year-old had zero top-20 finishes in his previous 10 PGA Tour starts this year. He's gained strokes off-the-tee in nine straight events, and his SG: Total in his last three tournaments are the best all year. Hardy ranks top-20 on Tour in Greens in Regulation and strongest in Par 4 efficiency from 450+ yards. He should have a better run of scoring this week in his 3M Open debut.
2. Chris Gotterup (+4500)
Gotterup also makes his 3M Open debut, and he's rising in the betting market with improved play. That's what a T-4 finish on another easy TPC course at Deere Run will do earlier this month. Gotterup is just 22-years-old and ranked outside the top-400 in the world. But in the John Deere Classic, he was top-3 in the field in driving distance (335 yards) and SG: Approach. Gotterup ranks top-10 in this field in Opportunities Gained, which identifies the players who generate the highest volume of birdie opportunities. Watch this reigning NCAA player of the year continue his rise on the PGA Tour.
3. Matthias Schwab (+9500)
Schwab is a 27-year-old from Austria who finished T-16 in the recent John Deere Classic following a poor final round. The Vanderbilt star and All-American Scholar also posted a pair of T-7 finishes back in March, and can definitely outperform these odds and finish better than his T-32 on debut here in 2020. His putting is a real strength, along with his around-the-green game. With improved tee-to-green and off-the-tee stats his past four events, Matthias Schwab is capable of rising up for a high finish as a true dark horse this week.
