D'Andre Swift Injury Update Skyrockets Jamaal Williams' Fantasy Outlook Ahead of Week 4

Updated:

Already hampered by an ankle issue, Detroit Lions running back D'Andre Swift was not his usual self against the Minnesota Vikings in Week 3. He only managed 10 touches for 46 all-purpose yards and failed to find the end zone.

Part of Swift's underwhelming performance was a shoulder injury he played through. Unfortunately, an early report from NFL insider Tom Pelissero suggests this shoulder ailment may be more serious than originally thought.

That's causing a huge swell to Jamaal Williams' Week 4 fantasy outlook, making him a must-add on the waiver wire.

D'Andre Swift Injury Update

Pelissero notes that Swift's shoulder injury is "not expected to require surgery" but could still result in missed time.

Swift may not need surgery, but even the mere mention of it points to this being a serious issue. It's currently unclear how much, if any, time Swift will miss as a result, but this causes major headaches for a player listed as RB5 on The Duel's Rest of Season PPR Rankings.

Jamaal Williams Fantasy Outlook

Swift ended up playing in a season-low 41% of the Lions' offensive snaps on Sunday. Backup Jamaal Williams ate up most of those open opportunities, appearing in 45% of the snaps.

Williams remains a continued threat to Swift's fantasy production regardless thanks to his success on the field. His 3.9 yards per attempt leaves us wanting more, but Williams has already found the end zone four times and caught 4-of-5 targets.

He dominates Detroit's red zone opportunities, out-rushing Swift 11-2 when inside the 20-yard line. Williams also owns one red zone target while Swift hasn't garnered a single target near the end zone.

Heading into a Week 4 matchup against a Seattle Seahawks defense that's allowed the 10th-most PPR points to opposing RBs, Williams is a must-target on this week's waiver wire.
