Washington Commanders quarterback Carson Wentz has been out since Week 6 with a finger injury He was sent to the Injured Reserve, but has now been designated to return. Although, just because he is now healthy, it doesn't mean he will resume his starting duties.

Carson Wentz Injury Update

Head coach Ron Rivera has already stated that Taylor Heinicke will be the starting QB for the remainder of the season, so the only way Wentz will see any snaps the rest of the way is if Heinicke sustains an injury.

It's tough to argue against Rivera's choice, Wentz was 2-4 in six games as the Commanders' starter. Heinicke, on the other hand, is 4-1 in his five starts under center this season.

The team is clearly rallying around Heinicke and he's been doing a good job of managing the offense and limiting turnovers.

So for now, Wentz will return as the backup. The Commanders have a Week 12 matchup with the Atlanta Falcons, where they are a 4-point home favorite, according to FanDuel Sportsbook's latest NFL odds.
