The Carolina Panthers have exceeded expectations put in place for them this season. This is especially impressive, since they have been without star running back Christian McCaffrey, following a sprained ankle in Week 2.

However, Carolina fans received a positive McCaffrey injury update yesterday. Now, they get an even better one.

McCaffrey returned to practice on Tuesday, wearing a red non-contact jersey. However, that jersey didn't last too long, with CMC taking it off and putting on a normal practice jersey. These are positive signs in his progression. He is expected to make his return to the field in Week 8 against the Atlanta Falcons on Thursday Night Football, barring any setback to his ankle.

Last season was a historic one for McCaffrey, as he totaled 2,392 yards and 19 touchdowns on a ridiculous 403 touches. While he will not be able to top this in 2020, CMC could still have a strong second half to the season, especially with the Panthers offense rolling the way it is.

In nearly two full games, McCaffrey has ran for 156 yards and four touchdowns, while adding seven receptions for 67 yards. Against a porous Atlanta defense this week, CMC could have a strong return to the field.
