Braves Get Positive First Ronald Acuña Jr. Injury Update

Updated:

Atlanta Braves outfielder Ronald Acuna Jr. was in obvious pain after fouling a pitch off his foot in the third inning of Saturday night's game. He initially stayed in but was eventually removed before the start of the ninth inning. Acuna's latest injury update provides some much-needed clarity for the fans.

Ronald Acuna Jr. Injury Update

Acuna was taken out by manager Brian Snitker as a precautionary move. He didn't want to risk what was diagnosed as left foot soreness turning into something much worse. Of course, Acuna missed the second half of the 2021 season following an ACL tear and only returned to action in late April.

Tests will be done on Sunday to determine whether or not Acuna can be in the lineup against the Los Angeles Dodgers. No matter what, the good news is that a stint on the injured list isn't a likely option right now. The 24-year-old has shown in the past that he will do whatever it takes to play baseball.

The Braves have benefitted from having Acuna back atop the lineup as they sit tied for the sixth-highest runs per game mark in the majors (4.74). The All-Star outfielder is slashing .281/.372/.455 across 43 games to go along with 28 runs scored, 7 home runs, 18 RBI and 13 stolen bases.

Keep an eye out for more updates on Acuna's status heading into an exciting Sunday Night Baseball matchup. The Braves will send Spencer Strider to the mound opposite Tony Gonsolin. The Dodgers are small -118 favorites in that game, according to MLB odds on FanDuel Sportsbook.
