The Atlanta Braves will look to lengthen their lead in the National League Wild Card race when they take on the Miami Marlins in a doubleheader on Saturday. A recently demoted starting pitcher is being called up as the 27th man on the roster and will be on the bump for the second contest.

Ian Anderson will be back in the major leagues after he was optioned to Triple-A on August 7. The 24-year-old did not appear in a game for the Gwinnett Stripers, meaning he enters tonight on full rest. Kyle Muller has also been recalled to Atlanta and will start Game 1 opposite Miami's Jesus Luzardo.

There's no denying that Anderson has taken a step back following a dazzling first two MLB seasons. The right-hander currently sports a 5.11 ERA and 1.54 WHIP across 21 starts in 2022. While solid run support has helped him build a 9-6 record, Anderson has allowed the most walks in the NL (53).

It'll be interesting to see if Anderson is sent back down after the doubleheader concludes or if he is with the Braves to stay. The acquisition of Jake Odorizzi and the emergence of Spencer Strider makes it more likely that Anderson is out of the starting rotation unless someone gets hurt.

This is a perfect opportunity for Anderson to bounce back as the Marlins average a dismal 3.79 runs per game (No. 27 in MLB) and own a team on-base percentage of .300 (No. 26 in MLB). For now, Atlanta has the fifth-best odds to win the World Series at +1300, according to FanDuel Sportsbook.
