The New York Giants are in an interesting position heading into the 2020 NFL Draft. New York will be picking at No. 4 overall and has a high second-round pick at No. 36.
Right now, the expert consensus and odds suggest the Giants will take an offensive lineman with their first pick, according to FanDuel Sportsbook. Here's a look at some bold predictions for what the Giants and GM Dave Gettleman could do in the NFL Draft.
1. New York Adds to the Secondary at No. 36
The Giants are in desperate need of defensive help, and their second round pick is a perfect place to start. There will probably be many great defensive backs on the board. If the Giants want to go for a top cornerback, they could take including LSU's Christian Fulton or Utah's Jaylon Johnson. As for safety, Cal's Ashtyn Davis, LSU's Grant Delpit, and Southern Illinois' Jeremy Chinn will all likely be available as well. With so many quality players, it's tough to predict the individual, but expect one of these names to go to New York at No. 36 overall.
2. New York Takes Jedrick Wills Jr.
The Giants' biggest need is at offensive line, where they have failed to develop a coherent system for years. In order to keep Daniel Jones upright and have any hope of contending, they need to land this pick. Jedrick Wills Jr. was a fantastic presence on the offensive line at Alabama and profiles as a future star at left tackle in the NFL. While other linemen like Tristan Wirfs and Mekhi Becton are tempting, Wills is has the best college track record and could land with the Giants at No. 4 overall.
3. New York Trades Down to No. 5 With Miami
The Miami Dolphins are very likely to take a quarterback to continue their massive rebuild under Brian Flores. No one is certain which quarterback they will be select, but they are picking one spot behind the Giants at No. 5 overall. With this leverage, the Giants could extract one of Miami's two late first-round picks to move back one spot. Calculated rumors have already spread that the Giants are researching Justin Herbert, and Miami could be forced to trade up one spot.
