The Los Angeles Angels are hoping to end their postseason drought in 2023, but that won't be easy after a fairly quiet offseason. On Saturday, relief pitcher Austin Warren cleared waivers after being designated for assignment, and was thus optioned to Triple-A for the Angels.

All 29 other MLB teams passed on the opportunity to sign Warren, but his roster spot was taken when LA signed Brett Phillips to a one-year deal last week.

Warren had a really solid 2021 as a rookie, posting a 1.77 ERA in 16 appearances, but he fell off a cliff in 2022, putting up a 5.63 ERA in 14 appearances.

With two option years remaining, Warren still has the ability to come up and revitalize his career with the Angels.

For now, Warren will serve as depth in Triple-A while he fights to get back to the majors.
