Allen Lazard Quietly Hints He's Leaving the Packers

Updated:

The Green Bay Packers have several major personnel questions to answer this offseason. One of them pertains to top wide receiver Allen Lazard, who's slated to become a free agent for the first time in his career.

According to Lazard, though, he may have already made up his mind on his Packers future.

The wideout gave his unfiltered thoughts to reporters following the team's loss Sunday night. Lazard said he wasn't worried about Aaron Rodgers' uncertain future for 2023 because he doesn't know where he's going to be playing.

Then the fifth-year pro seemed to hint at this being his last game in Green Bay, mentioning how it was a full-circle moment to start and finish his Packers career against the Detroit Lions.

Lazard walking this offseason would be a massive blow to an already-underwhelming WR room. The former undrafted wideout led the team in targets (100), receptions (60) and receiving yards in 2022. He also embraced his role as a blocker in Green Bay's offense, something most pass-catchers are uninterested in.

Rodgers' potential departure could usher in sweeping changes across the roster as the Packers weigh a possible rebuild. A youth movement may result in Christian Watson and Romeo Doubs becoming the top options if Lazard does walk in free agency.
