The Denver Broncos have been fighting to stay alive in the AFC playoff race, but they sit 1.0 game back of the final AFC Wild Card spot with five weeks to go. It's safe to say the front office is going to be have some tough decisions to make if this team misses the postseason for the sixth year in a row.

It's clear that this roster is going to have to go through some changes in order to keep up with the tough competition in the AFC West. With that being said, here are three players who won't be on the Broncos roster next season.

1. Melvin Gordon, RB

The Broncos drafted running back Javontae Williams to seemingly replace starter Melvin Gordon and all signs point to that still being true after 13 weeks of play. Williams recently ran for 102 yards on 23 carries in what was the first start in his NFL career while Gordon nursed a shoulder injury. The seventh-year pro enters free agency at the end of the year and will likely want to join a team in which he would be the unquestioned starter. Denver does not line up to be that spot whatsoever. It'd be best for general manager George Paton to target a running back with a lower price tag to work alongside Williams heading into 2022 instead or re-signing Gordon.

2. Teddy Bridgewater, QB

The quarterback carousel just continues to turn in Denver. The Broncos haven't been able to find a consistent leader on offense since the great Peyton Manning retired back in 2015. The team even traded for Teddy Bridgewater last offseason in hopes that he could turn things around. However, he has been average at best this season, posting 231.3 passing yards per game and 10.9 yards per completion. It's possible that the front office brings Bridgewater back for another shot at a cheap price tag, but it's more likely that they replace Bridgewater with someone like Jameis Winston. Denver could always draft a quarterback as well.

3. DaeSean Hamilton, WR

Wide receiver DaeSean Hamilton has spent the entire 2021 season on the injured reserve due to an ACL injury and his roster spot is shaky heading into the offseason. With both Jerry Jeudy and Courtland Sutton locked into long-term deals, Hamilton is going to be fighting for playing time alongside Tim Patrick and KJ Hamler. It's notable to point out that the dead cap hit that comes with cutting Hamilton loose is zero dollars. Paying a wide receiver over $2 million to sparingly play doesn't seem like a smart move. Hamilton's time in Denver could be up.
